The Times of India Journalist Neha Shama has bagged The Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2020 in the English : Print : News Report category.She has been awarded for her story titled ‘J&K Sex Scandal_ Ostracized Kashmiri survivor gets justice after 15 years’.The award is given for journalistic writing on gender sensitive issues.The award ceremony was held virtually on Friday evening.
Earlier as well she had won Laadli Media award for her story on Mother at age of 10 that hit not only national but international headlines.The Supreme court if India had also take cognizance of story and had instructed all states and UTs to form Permanent Medical Boards to avoid delay in abortion matter related to rape.
Prior to this ,Neha Sharma was awarded ICRW Media award for working on story related to Rape survivors.She was also amongb10 journalists across India to have won National Foundation of India Media Award for writing series of stories on “Life After Rape-Stories from hinterland Haryana.”
Neha Sharma is Multimedia and Multilingual Journalist with experience of 10 years in Print, Electronic and Digital Media. Presently working with Times of India as Principal Correspondent covering North India with expertise in legal beat.Presently she has been elected as Vice President of Chandigarh Press Club for second time and had been Joint Secretary for the year 2017.
